Featured Treatment: PRP Hair Restoration

Ever since we introduced PRP Hair Restoration to patients of out Del Mar dermatology practice  the results have gotten better and better!

PRP Hair Restoration is a minimally invasive procedure where your bodies own platelet rich plasma is harvested and activated in order to stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles. This creates new hair growth as well as thicker, fuller, healthier hair.

Before and after one session PRP Hair Restoration, 12 weeks post procedure.

Here are a few words from one of our wonderful patients about her experience with PRP Hair Restoration:

“The treatment was much easier than I had anticipated. The nurse took me to a treatment suite, took my before photos and explained the procedure. She then took two vials of blood from my arm and off they went to be prepared.

The PRP injections were quick, they only took about 20 minutes and I  felt  little-to-no discomfort. After the treatment I was able to go back to my normal routine.

The difference in my hair at 12 weeks is impressive. It feels thicker and healthier and the thinning areas have started to fill in. I am so happy with the results- and I    cannot wait the see how it looks after my remaining treatments.” – Michelle W

How does PRP Hair Restoration work?

1-2 tubes of blood is drawn from your arm, similar to when you have lab tests. The blood is then prepared in a special centrifuge that seperates your red blood cells from the platelets and plasma portions of your blood. The platelet rich plasma (PRP) is then reinjected into the scalp, in areas of hair loss or thinning.

We typically recommend four treatments, one month apart. Maintainance treatments 1-3 times per year may be suggested to maintain healthy hair growth.

However the patient in these photos only had one session with 12 weeks between the before and the after!  This is an amazing result and our patient could not be happier.
