Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by redness or flushing, broken capillaries, papules and pustules, and sometimes hypertrophy of the oil glands. The mid-face is most affected but other areas such as the eyelids may be involved.
Early intervention with appropriate skin care, diet routines, and topical medications may help prevent rosacea progression. At times, oral antibiotics may be necessary to treat or prevent flares.
Laser treatments such as Vbeam pulsed-dye laser for redness and Smoothbeam for sebaceous gland hyperplasia may reverse some of the signs of rosacea.
